Strasbourg: Capitale de Noël

Tis the season to share photos from your trip to the fabulous Strasbourg Christmas market!

We made a last-minute decision to take advantage of discounted train tickets and check out Europe’s oldest Christmas market last weekend. Leaving Friday evening from Geneva, it was a four-and-a-half hour train ride to Strasbourg with two transfers, but I took full advantage of the ride to write one of my grad school papers 🙂 Strasbourg is in Alsace, which has gone back and forth between French and German control and has the charming architecture to prove it. We loved wandering around town, perusing the market stalls filled with local artisanal products, trying sweet bretzel (delicious; sort of like a pretzel-shaped donut), and sipping mulled wine to keep warm (I recommend the white variety native to the region!) Enjoy the photos, and happy holidays!
